Displacement. Kidnapping. Murder.

Christians across sub-Saharan Africa are facing violent persecution for their faith in Jesus. Thousands have been killed in the last year. Millions are displaced. And the hope of the African church seems grim.

Leaves of healing

The book of Revelation describes a tree filled with "leaves ... for the healing of the nations" (Revelation 22:2 ESV). This is the inspiration for what we want to do for the hurting African church: Build a tree of prayer and justice.

When we pray for our African brothers and sisters, it creates a "leaf" of healing. When we speak out on their behalf, the tree grows. Through our prayers and petitions—and the prayers and petitions of resilient believers in sub-Saharan Africa—God will create something beautiful.

That's the goal of the Arise Africa campaign, a four-year campaign from Open Doors to address the crisis facing God's people in sub-Saharan Africa.

The African church is resilient, and is asking us to pay attention to their struggles—and to their faith. We can learn so much from their testimonies and the way God works through and among His people in the region.

So please, join them in speaking out by adding a prayer above. And if you'd like do even more, you can give a financial gift by clicking here.
